Perhaps we are biased, but there is no better city than NYC for a girlfriends’ getaway. Stores, spas, restaurants, tea shops, shows and, well more stores.
We recently had the opportunity to explore the new Trump SOHO. It is the perfect launching point for a girlfriend getaway. Just two blocks from the heart of SOHO and its wonderful collection of boutiques and restaurants, the hotel has everything you need for a few nights with your best gal pals. A Turkish-themed spa offers a lavish menu of treatments. A heated outdoor pool with an accompanying bar provides the perfect place to hang out and drink mojitos. Lobby restaurant Quattro has delicious dining options if you can't bear to leave the hotel. And the rooms? Gorgeous views, comfy beds and the kind of gigantic bathtubs that invite you to soak for an hour of peace.
Where to go, what to eat and where to shop? The concierge is happy to help you plan a few days with your best gal pals. Seriously, this guy knows his stuff. For us, he suggested Waverly Inn for its great bar scene and Juliet Supper Club, Griffin or Kiss and Fly for a taste of NYC nightlife. But be sure to ask when you arrive, 'cause the hot spots in NYC change monthly!
Shopping in Soho is bar none. Some stops we loved? Theory for classics, Betsy Johnson for fun, Agent Provocateur for, well, you know, and Patagonia if you're feeling sporty. Don't miss the leather bracelets available on every corner and Giggle on Wooster Street should you need to assuage your guilt with a little shopping for the little ones. Drop in to Folli Follie to check out their collection of fab bags and accessories – ask for Morgan, not only does she know every morsel in the store, she is tons of fun and, don't tell her we told you, but she often has a secret stash of champagne, which makes shopping just a little bit more fun, don't you think? For something sweet, a visit to Jacques Torres chocolate shop at 350 Hudson will do the trick. Not only can you sit and indulge, you can watch the good stuff being made.
The Trump SOHO's location on the very West edge of SOHO adds Newark airport to the list of potential points of entry and introductory rates (the hotel opened just last year) make this spring the ideal time to grab your girls for a few days' indulgence. Oh, and if you love your room so much you don't want to leave, you can buy it. Or, at least one just like it: the hotel is part condominium.
