Relaxation Awaits at The Villas at Omni Amelia Island Plantation

By Anna Hall, Hickory NC Publisher & Travel Writer June 14, 2016

We are an active family, often choosing to spend our vacations walking through a metropolitan city or hiking for miles in the great outdoors. But during our recent visit to Amelia Island, I saw my family do something different: slow down and take the time to relax.

That's not hard to do at the stunning property of the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort. From the moment you drive onto the Omni property, the over-hanging oaks adorned with Spanish moss provide a picturesque welcome to Amelia Island. As you step into the gorgeous lobby of the resort, the accommodating staff caters to your every need, exhibiting true Southern hospitality at every encounter. Even before you check in, you are drawn to the breathtaking view of the infinity-edged pool and expansive pool deck overlooking the sparkling Atlantic Ocean, inviting you to lounge around in one of the numerous chaise lounges, cabanas or rocking chairs.

In addition to the water amenities consisting of the adult Serenity Pool, the family-friendly Splash Pool, the Splash Park for kids and 3.5 miles of wide, uncrowded beach, the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort offers plenty of activity options to fill your days. We especially enjoyed our leisurely bike rides exploring the 1350 acre property, sights like the Indian Burial Mound at Walker's Landing and the colorful sunset over the salt marsh at Drummond Park. The naturalist-led kayak tour, both scenic and educational, was definitely a highlight. Other activities to choose from include golf, tennis, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing, Segway tours, mini-golf, two fitness centers, two playgrounds, a kids' club, a Nature Center and a spa/salon, plus numerous scheduled events such as shark tooth hunts, dive-in movies and family beach fires. Plentiful dining and shopping options provide all you need right on property, with a complimentary shuttle to transport you wherever you need to go.

At the end of the day, retreat to your luxurious accommodations which feature unparalleled views of sunrise and sunset, from the ocean to the marsh. With 404 rooms, 27 suites and more than 300 spacious one-, two- or three-bedroom villas, the resort has the best arrangement for your needs. We stayed in a beautiful 3 bedroom oceanfront villa that can accommodate up to 8, complete with a full kitchen, a spacious living room and dining area, 3 bathrooms, 3 balconies, and even laundry. Part of The Villas of Amelia Island Plantation, these units, each one unique and attentively maintained, are perfect for multigenerational travel and offer all the comforts of home. Located adjacent to the hotel in a more private setting, the villas cater to your lifestyle with their own special features, while still providing exclusive access to all of the resort's amenities.

The Villas at Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort, located at the tip of a barrier island off the Northeast Florida coast north of Jacksonville, is the perfect destination for your next family vacation. It certainly was for us. Learn more at http://www.villasofameliaisland.com/.
