7 Spooktacular Reasons to Visit Holiday World this Fall

By Jo Beth Bootz September 13, 2016
Imagine a world filled with roller coasters, treasure mazes, tasty treats and more?   You’ll find all of this, and more, at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari.

Located in Santa Claus, Indiana (yes, home of the big guy himself), Holiday World & Splashin' Safari is consistently recognized nationally for its world class rides and family-friendly approach to service.  In fact, for the seventeenth consecutive year, Holiday World was named the #1 Cleanest Park at the Golden Ticket Awards, outranking such parks as Disney World and Cedar Point.  Holiday World also holds the claim as the world’s first theme park. In 1946, the park originally made its debut under the name Santa Claus Land.

Now, through October 30, you can visit this celebrated theme park to delight in Happy Halloween Weekends, providing seasonal and fun that is less about the frights and more about the smiles.

Here are 7 reasons you should check out Holiday World this season (or on your next theme park vacation).

1. THE FREEBIES
Holiday World is known for its service and affordability for families.  During your visit, all park visitors receive free amenities such as fountain drinks and water (located at Oasis stations throughout the park), sunscreen, parking, and Wi-Fi.  Yes, they are all free!

2. THE CORN
I know it sounds crazy, but since the park is located in Southern Indiana, you have the opportunity to explore over 12 acres of corn mazes (one for adults and one for kids) plus jump on-board a family-friendly hayride. The little ones can even stop by the Corn Bin, a huge sandbox filled with corn that includes farm tools and toy tractors for play.

3. THE SHOWS
Stop off at Kris Kringle’s Cafe for the Halloween Magic Show or visit the Hoosier Celebration Theater to hear your favorite, popular songs in the show Lights Out!  To wind down, you can listen to Gourdon’s Tales from the Patch where an animatronic pumpkin shares spooky stories.

4. THE HALLOWEEN MAZES
Put on your 3D glasses and join Holidog (Holiday World’s main mascot) in a 3D Halloween Adventure.  Help Holidog find his Halloween candy in this color-filled walk-through adventure for all ages.  You can also step up your adventure with a visit to Carnival Chaos as you explore an abandoned carnival filled with strobe lights and sounds to delight the Halloween senses.  If you are looking for a challenge, we recommend braving Mummy’s Treasure Maze.

5. THE DANCE PARTY
Join Kitty Claws (Holiday World’s Halloween mascot) and her friends at Splashin' Safari, rated the number 4 water park in the USA by Trip Advisor.  Come dressed in costume to show off your dance moves and enjoy a safe trick or treating event.  Non-food items are also available as part of the Teal Pumpkin Project.

6. THE ROLLER COASTERS
If the adults in your family are looking to find more thrills, board the Thunderbird, the nation’s first launched wing steel coaster for a way to get your adrenaline pumping.  In addition, Holiday World’s wooden coasters, The Voyage, The Legend, and The Raven were named among the world’s Top 16 wooden coasters at the 2016 Golden Ticket Awards.  You’ll definitely get a fright as you swirl through the holiday-themed sections of the park.

7. THE FOOD
From Goblin Burgers to the Fright Cake Factory featuring the Reese’s Pieces Funnel Cake, you are guaranteed to find a holiday treat to satisfy every taste bud in the family.  If you need to cool down, try out a Dole Whip Swirl or Dippin Dots Ice Cream.  You can even have a full Thanksgiving meal at the Plymouth Rock Cafe.  Of course, you can’t go wrong with a visit to Mrs. Klaus’ Kitchen where you can enjoy delicious baked goods from the lady herself or a Pumpkin Spiced Latte.  Santa Claus also makes appearances throughout the day.
