As if Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, didn't have enough going on already, Nickelodeon opened its very first theme park there in 2008. Spongebob, Dora and many of their Nickelodeon pals can be found around the park daily to meet kids and take photos. My 14-year-old daughter was SO excited to meet Kai-lan (see photo). My son is thrilled to see Spongebob every single time we go!
The world's largest indoor family amusement park, Nickelodeon Universe boasts a ton of great Nick-themed rides, a food court, gaming area, great little stores selling Nickelodeon merchandise and much more. The park spans seven acres and has rides from mild kiddie rides for toddlers and preschoolers to high-speed thrill rides for older kids and adults. There are also rides that the whole family can enjoy together! Indoors, but still bright and sunny, this park can entertain the kids for many hours.
All rides are based off of a points system. You buy tickets worth a number of points and receive a ticket or wristband that is scanned at each ride as you go on them. If you are planning a full day, be sure to buy the unlimited ride wristbands. And always search online for discount coupons before heading out! You can usually find them somewhere!
Water fountains, restrooms, changing tables and lockers can be found around the park. This family-friendly amusement park is a great place to take the little ones ... or the big ones (though the teens may have just as much fun wandering the 500-plus stores in the mall).
Need more to do? Mall of America also boasts a mini-golf course, a mirror maze, Sea Life (an indoor aquarium) and much more. Needless to say, there is something for everyone!
