Meet the Elephants!

July 7, 2010

Sanctuary Retreats invites families with children 12 and over to learn a bit about the African bush from local residents Jabu, Thembi and Morula.  These three guides take guests on long walks and introduce them to local culture.  Elephant culture that is.

Jabu, Thembi and Morula are three elephants who were orphaned and adopted by "elephant whisperers" Doug and Sandi Groves.  They welcome guests at the beautifully appointed Sanctuary Baines' Camp in Botswana where guests enjoy an intimate, luxurious setting and learn how elephants live and interact with their environment.

Award-winning Sanctuary Retreats operates several different camps and offers many different adventures.  While the Baines' Camp is restricted to teens and adults, several retreats are open to children of all ages.  Of particular interest may be the Sanctuary Olonana camp in Kenya.  But we loved exploring all of the options online: the images alone make their website worth the visit.
