Looking to plan the perfect Spring Break warm weather getaway? Look no further than the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North. This is a resort that has it all- perfect weather, beautiful grounds, and an amazing sense of tranquility. With activities for families, couples, and girlfriends, the resort is the ideal fit for your next vacation no matter what you are planning.
This past weekend, I was a guest of the Four Seasons and was lucky enough to experience it all first-hand as part of a girlfriend’s getaway weekend. After the crazy holiday season, I was in need of a little downtime and that is just what I found!
The Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale is spread across 40 stunning acres and is adjacent to Pinnacle Peak Park. Because of the hotel’s layout and location, you often feel like you are the only one around. It is amazingly quiet (and yes, there were plenty of kids there!) and peaceful. A perfect retreat for moms like me.
The resort offers 210 rooms and suites beautifully designed as Southwestern casitas with ample room for a family offering amenities such as gas-burning fireplaces, wireless internet, flat screen TVs and DVD players. Many suites include a private outdoor Kiva fireplace, private plunge pool, an outdoor garden shower off of the bathroom (incredible!) and even a telescope with a constellation chart of the Arizona sky. Not staying in a suite? Not to worry- just check out the complimentary stargazing every Friday night. It is amazing how much you can see in the clear desert sky!
Wondering what to do during the day? Get outside and enjoy a hike at Pinnacle Peak Park. It is an easy hike that you could enjoy with your children, alone or with girlfriends. The resort also offers many fitness classes such as Zumba, pilates, and yoga for a minimal fee. In addition, there is a fully equipped fitness center that has personal trainers available. Also, all guests of the resort have priority use of the championship golf courses at Troon North, which limits the number of golfers allowed each day to allow for a peaceful day of golf.
If you head to the resort for a girlfriend’s getaway like I did, the spa is a must! With a full range of services, including some that use indigenous ingredients such as Sedona clay and Sonoran honey, there is something for everyone. It is a perfect fit for a relaxing vacation. We were invited to check out “Margaritas and Manicures,” which includes a 60-minute manicure and of course, a margarita. So much fun! The staff was great and it was a perfect addition to a weekend dedicated to some quality girl time!
With the amazing weather this time of year, we were able to spend some time by the pool. What I loved most about the pool area is that there is a beautiful free-form pool, plus an adults-only area and a children’s pool each surrounded by complimentary cabanas – a must in the desert sun!
During our stay, we were able to enjoy many of the eateries on site. For casual dining, there is the poolside Saguaro Blossom and Crescent Moon which offers great views of the desert. Crescent Moon is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and they serve a fabulous brunch that includes many delicious traditional Southwestern dishes. For a great night out, grab a drink at the Onyx Bar & Lounge and then head next door to Talavera. When at Onyx, be sure to sit outside and enjoy the amazing sunset views. Talavera is the resort’s upscale dining option allowing you to have a great night out without ever having to leave the hotel property. One thing that I liked about Talavera is that although it is the hotel’s most elegant restaurant, they are very welcoming of families. There are menu choices for both children and teens. One other great perk for families - children 4 and under eat free at all property restaurants.
The Four Seasons has done a great job of catering to even the littlest of guests. Upon check-in, children are given their own welcome kit, which includes a fun scavenger hunt allowing them to explore the property, collect stamps and get a prize at the end. And, so the teens in your family don’t feel left out, they too are given a welcome kit with a friendship bracelet and a QR code inviting them to check out the Teen Center which is open nightly from 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The teen welcome program will soon be expanding to a scavenger hunt just for teens that will allow them to use their smart phones to scan QR codes that are located all around the resort.
The Teen Center is open nightly and offers teens a place to hang out, meet other teens, play games like foosball and air hockey, watch movies or challenge each other in the Wii or X-Box 360 rooms.
During the day (9:00 am – 5:00 pm), the Kids For All Seasons program is available to children ages 5-12 free of charge. Daily activities include arts and crafts, swimming, nature walks, games, and more including access to the movie room, Wii and X-Box 360 rooms mentioned above. The Kids For All Seasons’ facility is very large and has so much to offer that any kid would want to spend the day there. And like I said, it is FREE to attend! There are often special events for children as well, including movie nights, fun holiday parties, carnivals, and even kid’s Fear Factor so there really is something for children of every age here.
There are a few other fun family-oriented activities on-site. Families can enjoy the family fun game lawn for croquet and other fun outdoor games. Children ages 5-10 can join a parent in the spa for a Bubble Gum Bash which could include a manicure, pedicure or haircut. Teens ages 16 and up can enjoy a facial as well. For families with little ones, the Four Seasons make travelling easy by offering complimentary cribs, strollers, high chairs, car seats and even wipes for all family guests.
So as you can see, there is no reason not to go to the Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North. They have thought of everything to making your stay a true vacation. Enjoy in 2012!
