Live a Cowboy's Life at the Aspen Ridge Resort

By Melissa Alcorn August 14, 2012

Have you ever wondered how it would feel to live like a cowboy on a real working cattle ranch?  The Aspen Ridge Resort invites you to step off the beaten path and experience the ranch life of a cowboy first-hand.

Nestled in a hidden mountain valley in Oregon, the Aspen Ridge Ranch is not your typical dude ranch.  Guests of the ranch (including kids) will live a cowboy’s life during their stay.  During the day, saddle up and help move the cow herd to new pasture, or assist the ranch crew in tending to the newborn calves.  When the day’s work is done, bait a hook and go fishing, explore the ranch’s surrounding wild meadows or just sit and enjoy the calm beauty of the ranch.  Those looking for more action can go hiking, take a bike ride through the mountain trails, or play tennis and ping pong.  The winter months offer skiing and snowmobiling (though the cattle reside in a California pasture from mid-November to mid-may).

Lodging at the ranch includes fully-equipped cabins (starting at $180 per night) allowing you to make your own meals if you like, or Lodge rooms ($90-$120 per night).  The Lodge’s restaurant offers hearty meals the whole family will love, including all-beef hot dogs and child portions.

A century old, the Aspen Ridge Resort is family-owned.  The owners, Steve and Karen Simmons, who raised their own family on the ranch, are involved in all aspects of the ranch and resort.  Guests can expect to feel at home on the ranch and rest easy knowing their hosts have a personal commitment to giving visiting families an unforgettable experience.
