By Rebecca Plaisance September 11, 2012
Nestled in central Georgia on the shores of Lake Oconee is The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation - The Ritz Carlton’s vision of a lake vacation is luxury beyond your wildest imagination.

The Ritz-Carlton Lodge is steeped in history and takes its name from Mercer Reynolds, the original owner of the land upon which the resort is built.  Legend has it that Mercer Reynolds dreamed of creating a place where families could gather together and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings. We have no doubt that he would be proud of what The Ritz-Carlton Lodge has developed.

Situated on 35 pristine acres, this resort offers something for everyone. Water is king at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge with a beautiful lakefront that offers fishing, boating, swimming, tubing, paddle boats, kayaks and much, much more. In addition to the lake, The Ritz-Carlton Lodge offers two large pools, an outdoor heated infinity pool and an indoor pool located within the spa. The outdoor pool over looks the lake and offers poolside dining in addition to a full service restaurant, “Gaby’s.” The motto at Gaby’s is “no shirt, no shoes, no problem.” In other words, come as you are - right out of the pool or fresh off the fishing boat.

Off the water, The Ritz-Carlton Lodge offers outdoor activities of all kinds including biking, tennis, hiking, ice skating, tennis and GOLF. The resort boasts five world-class golf courses designed by some of the most respected names in the game, including Bob Cupp and Jack Nicklaus. Golf at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge has been named “Best in the World” several times over and has played host to an array of national championships. Golfers of all ages and abilities are welcome at their state-of-the-art Golf Academy. There, under expert tutelage, kids as young as six can hit their first balls and experienced players can schedule a private lesson with Top 100 Pro, Charlie King.

Not to be outdone, The Ritz-Carlton Spa recently received the Forbes 4-star award, just one of the many honors this spa boasts including being named the #4 best resort by Conde Nast Traveler. The spa menu features a wide variety of services including facials, massage, hair and nail services, body and foot treatments. The spa is warm and welcoming and the staff is very accommodating which ensures that you will have a relaxing visit. The locker rooms at the spa also include a steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi and cold pool. Guests of the hotel can use these amenities even if they are not receiving a spa service. In the same building as the spa is a state-of-the-art fitness center and workout room. Group exercise classes are offered on Saturdays.

Kids love the Ritz Kids Club where they can meet the resident bunnies and take part in a wide range of activities at the daily “camps.” There is a great playground on site situated by some of the best tree swings I have ever seen! Kid pools, an awesome water slide, and a Kids’ Room that features games of all kinds will keep your family busy and entertained all day. Be sure to stop by the fire pit for nightly s’mores!
