Whether you are looking for an adventure or time to reconnect with your family, Wisconsin Dells is a great choice for a vacation destination. Known as "The Waterpark Capital of the World," Wisconsin Dells offers exciting shows, tons of resorts, hundreds of places to dine and of course, more waterparks than you can count. With so many options, deciding where to stay and play can be a bit overwhelming.
If you want a place that has it all - fun for the whole family, great food, nice accommodations, and rates that won't cost an arm and a leg - book a stay at the Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort. Featuring eight waterparks (four outdoor and four indoor) and a variety of attractions covering 600 acres with 12 football fields of water, the Wilderness is America's largest waterpark resort. There is so much to do all just a short walk or quick shuttle drive away; your family will enjoy exploring a new place every time you leave your room.
The Wilderness has something for everyone. Each waterpark has age-appropriate areas for toddlers and young children that include water sprays, slides and more. Some even offer 300 gallon bucket drops and our favorites – the family slides known as the Fantastic Voyage and Dueling Mammoths. Hang onto your kids because these indoor slides take a family of 4 (young kids too!) on an exciting adventure of twists and turns through tunnels before making its way to the landing pool. Your family won’t be able to get enough of these two!
Older kids and adults will love the resort’s extreme slides. They are called extreme for a reason! The new Lunar Loop features a five-story drop that will propel you into a nearly vertical loop. After you have caught your breath experience the feel of free fall while sliding down the new Cosmic Drop. Round out your thrilling experience by taking a family ride on the Hurricane; a fog machine and strobe light effects accompany this quick moving slide through a giant funnel.
Looking for a more peaceful voyage? Grab a tube and float around on a lazy river or catch some rays in the Wild Waterdome. The state of the art design of the Wild Waterdome allows the warm sun to shine through year round. While you relax, your kids will have fun riding the waves in the Great Wave, which happens to be the largest wave pool in the nation!
The fun doesn't stop when your family is ready to dry off. Head out for some arcade style fun, play a round or two of 3-D black light mini-golf, laser tag, or challenge yourselves to get through the brand new Northern Lights Sky Ropes Course. Make sure you save some time for a run through the Timberland Playhouse, where kids under 12 can wear themselves out loading foam balls into air blasters and watching them fly out. And have we mentioned you can go zip lining too? The resort offers the opportunity to zip line through the great outdoors for a true family-bonding experience.
You'll work up a big appetite having so much fun, and the Wilderness Resort makes it easy to refuel with many dining options within the resort. Be sure to check out the Wild Canyon Cafe where kids eat free with each adult entree purchase, and Sarento's where you can sit down for a delicious pizza (or even have it delivered to your room!).
What sets this fantastic waterpark resort from others in the Dells is one very important policy. "You have to stay at the Wilderness to play at the Wilderness" explains Heidi Fendos, Public Relations Council for the Wilderness Territory. “Waterpark passes are exclusively for registered guests, so you won't see long lines or overwhelming crowds at the resort.” Less waiting means you have more time to just have fun!
With something for family members of all ages and so much to see and do, the Wilderness is a great place to stay during your next visit to Wisconsin Dells. “Truly it is a resort that you can have years and years of family fun at, which is great,” adds Heidi.
