Four Things Our CEO Won't Leave Home Without

By Joyce Shulman November 13, 2012
As the CEO of Macaroni Kid, as well as the managing editor of Macaroni Kid Family Travel, I travel.  A lot. I’m usually on a plane once a month, and sometimes more often than that.

What are the four things i don’t leave home without?

First, my iPhone and iPad: I am constantly connected to the Macaroni Kid community,” she said.   “And trashy television is the perfect antidote for turbulence.

Second, my Mophie. A full day of meetings or a social media conference can be too much for a single charge, especially the way I tweet, text and email. A friend gave me a Mophie for my birthday last year and I won’t travel without it.  Mophie is a iPhone case that holds at least one or two additional charges.

Third, Rainrap. I used to travel with a nice big scarf to wrap up in on a flight or throw over my shoulders if it got cool in the evenings.  But it was no help if it rained. A few months ago, I was sent a Rainrap to review. Rainraps are reversible, water resistant scarf-meets-jacket-meets-shawl.  The new hooded version comes with a travel pouch that allows it to fold up easily and slip in a carryon. I love my Rainrap. It doubles as a blanket on a long flight and is perfect for unexpected drizzles.

Finally, Fast Flats from Dr. Scholls. At 5’4”, I love big heels. But sometimes all day can be too long, so I always have a pair of Dr. Scholls’ Fast Flats tucked into my bag. They roll up into their own little gold case and feel like ballet slippers when you wear them.”
