This Month, It's Travel Just for Mom

By Joyce Shulman May 14, 2013
I once boarded a plane bound for Florida behind a woman with three kids (and a husband) in tow. She wore a t-shirt that read "I'm a stay-at-home mom. This isn't vacation, this is my job."

Ain't that the truth!

We at Macaroni Kid believe that family travel is fantastic. It teaches lessons that can't be learned elsewhere, creates family memories that last a lifetime and provides the kind of family time that you rarely get at home.

But is it a vacation for mom? Usually not.

Each May, we dedicate Macaroni Kid Family Travel to travel just for mom and encourage moms everywhere to take a few days just for you. Sure, a full week at a spa is wonderful, and sometimes just what the doctor ordered. But what about a freeing your inner scribe at a writer's retreat in the mountains of Montana? Or a few days of "ohm," hiking in the Canadian Rockies, or hitting the Las Vegas strip with your best gal pals?

There are so many ways for you to recharge and below we've highlighted just a few. But what's most important? That you carve out a little time, just for you.

So pack those bags, sister, it's time for travel just for you!
