Has your family ever just wanted to get away, I mean really get away? Have you dreamed of leaving the electronics behind and enjoying your family in the outdoors, playing games, shopping in the local stores, and not worrying about what you’re going to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Our family found that perfect place. The place where the staff make you feel welcome and stress free, and keep you entertained during your entire visit.
When I was younger, and would watch the movie Dirty Dancing I would wonder if a place like that really existed. One where you could go for vacation, enjoy being with your family, and have fun doing as little or as much as you wanted, without worry. That place is in the gorgeous mountains of North Carolina in a very small town called Cashiers. High Hampton Inn & Country Club is a place I will never forget.
The staff took care of everything upon arrival. They made sure we checked in and found our cabin without hesitation, described all of the events planned for the rest of the evening, and reminded us what time to return to the main building for dinner. Our cabin was snuggled into a perfect little spot right next to all of the outdoor action, but with all the privacy you would need.
On our first day, we set out to explore all that the Inn has to offer. We spent time walking throughout the entire grounds of the Inn and its 35 acre private lake, visited with Fred and Ed (the Donkeys), and tried a few of outdoor activities. Later in the day I had the opportunity to visit their wonderful spa -- something no mom should ever pass up. The following day, we took a trip in to town and visited antique shops and met many wonderful locals, all of whom shared stories about their little town and lots of insight about things to do in the area, including the Bear Shadow, waterfalls and more.
If you are looking for quiet walks through the mountains, fishing, golfing, fun with the kids, swimming in the lake, Llama hikes, or shopping in town, you have found this place with High Hampton Inn. There is something to be said about a place that asks you to leave your electronics at home and boasts about the absence of TVs in the cabins. High Hampton Inn is a place families come back to year after year. In fact, the staff knows many families in their third or fourth generation of coming to the Inn.
