Black Tie Ski Rentals

By Eric Cohen October 8, 2013
If renting skis makes you think of a crowded ski shop with clunky old beginner equipment, think again. We had the pleasure of experiencing Black Tie Ski Rental on our trip to Beaver Creek last winter and can’t say enough positive things about the experience.

The level of service was what you’d expect from a company that holds itself out as “black tie”. The guys were prompt and professional and showed up at our hotel with the exact size and right type of ski equipment for me and my two kids. In fact, they had two sizes of boots for each kid to be sure they got the perfect fit. We had our gear all set in minutes the night before we went skiing, no early morning craziness for us.

While my kids are still learning and are not too particular about their equipment (I just want theirs to be safe and current, which it was), I am a lifelong skier and know what I like in a ski. I shared my preferences with the Black Tie team before we arrived, and they brought a couple of skis for me. They recommended the Nordica Steadfast, which turned out to be ideal for the conditions, a mix of new snow and groomed snow. Had it dumped new snow, I could have swapped those out for a fat powder ski, or had conditions gotten firmer, a front side carving ski. Ski technology has evolved so much that using the right ski for the right conditions can make your ski day much more enjoyable, and having the option available from Black Tie is huge benefit.

With airline bag fees soaring through the roof, not to mention the convenience of not lugging skis across the Country, and being able to ski on a variety of the latest and greatest skis on the market, Black Tie Ski Rental is a great option for the skiing family.
