Where's Santa?

By Lisa Gofberg December 9, 2014
If someone asked you "Where's Santa" this time of year, chances are you would say the North Pole. But it turns out even Santa needs to get away and sometimes you'll find him doing some wild and crazy things! Here's some of the best spots you can find Santa outside of the North Pole.

Santa by the Sea
If you are in Hawaii this holiday season, watch out for Santa at Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort as he arrives to the resort by outrigger canoe and then hangs out with guests for a meet-and-greet and photo op!

If you are already planning for next year, you can find Santa surfing the West Coast at Seaport Village in San Diego. In true California style, Santa, sporting board shorts and his favorite Hawaiian shirt, cruises into Seaport Village via watercraft, and then poses for free photos with visitors on his giant surfboard and six-foot wave.

Santa continues his beach fun in Pensacola, Florida, where he parachutes onto the beach during the annual Santa Drop at the Flora Bama in Perdido Key, kicking off a daylong holiday celebration with Christmas carols and fun with Santa for the kids.

Next, it's off to St. Thomas for more beach adventures. At Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort, Santa masters the art of stand-up paddle boarding (without falling in!). Who knew Santa had such skills??

Clearly Santa loves the Caribbean because you can also find him riding his dolphin-led sleigh throughout Atlantis at Paradise Island. Keep an eye out for him as he and his dolphins cruise through the resort!

Santa in the Snow
Even though Santa lives in one of the snowiest places on Earth, he just can't get enough of winter fun! In Crested Butte, Colorado, Santa wants you to join in! This year marks the 2nd Annual Santa Ski & Crawl where you can join in the effort to secure a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for number of Santas skiing. Throw on your best Santa suit, grab your skis and get moving! The fun continues on Christmas Eve when Santa descends the mountain in a snowcat-pulled sleigh.

Santa brings the celebration to Park City Mountain Resort, Utah, as he arrives via the Town Lift. The holiday spirit continues in Park City as Santa skis the mountain. Then, enjoy the Traditional Torchlight Parade and Christmas Eve Celebration where the Park City ski and snowboard instructors snake down PayDay trail for a traditional torchlight parade.

In Keystone, Colorado, you can meet Santa AND his reindeer. Throughout December, Santa visits Keystone so you can take some photos with him and his reindeer, do some ice skating and maybe even spot Santa on the slopes!

Trains, Planes, Automobiles and Segways??
It turns out Santa enjoys a good train ride. You can find him all over the country celebrating the spirit of Christmas. In California, the Napa Valley Wine Train asks "why meet Santa in a crowded mall when you can visit with him on board a luxury vintage train?" You can do just that cruising through the beautiful wine country on their child-friendly Santa Train full of holiday fun!

Just outside of Columbia, South Carolina, hop aboard the Twilight Santa Train for an evening of cookies, hot chocolate and storytelling!

So maybe it's not a plane, but Santa loves to fly in style! In West Chester, Pennsylvania, Santa arrives via helicopter at the American Helicopter Museum to greet good girls and boys, hear wish lists, and give goodie bags during a day of holiday cheer. Hop on board the helicopter to visit with Santa too!

Santa appreciates a beautiful car, so you can find him in Bowling Green, Kentucky, – home of the Corvette! Visit the National Corvette Museum where Sleigh Rides with Santa is an annual event. Kids can join Santa in the passenger seat of America's favorite sports car and take a ride around the museum!

Santa's need for speed continues outside of New Orleans at NOLA Motorsports Park where guests will have the opportunity to take a picture with Santa in his brand new ride this holiday season: a cherry red 602-hp Lamborghini Huracan! Christmas comes early this year for some sports car loving fans!

Keep an eye out for Santa in Oklahoma City! Santa might pass right by you as he cruises around town on his Segway handing out candy and gifts to children at local holiday events happening across the city. Who knew Santa was so cool?!?

Maybe You Would Expect to Find Santa Here....
In Cascade, Colorado, visit Santa's Workshop at The North Pole - a holiday amusement park. Meet Santa and his elves, ride Christmas-themed rides, and of course, enjoy holiday shopping.

If you are visiting a town called Santa Claus, Indiana, you'd better be able to hang out with Santa! In this Santa-centric town, you can have Christmas dinner with Santa, spot him in the annual Santa Claus Christmas Celebration Parade and of course visit the one and only Santa Claus Post Office and receive the famous Santa Claus postmark!

You can always find Santa at the North Pole Experience in Flagstaff, Arizona. The North Pole Experience is a life-like authentic Santa's workshop experience and one-of-a-kind Christmas adventure complete with Elf University and a giant sleigh. Kids can work alongside Santa and his elves in Santa's Workshop building toys – a true once-in-a-lifetime experience.

In North Pole, New York, you'll find Santa and his reindeer at Santa's Workshop in the Lake Placid region of the Adirondack Mountains. During Yuletide Family Weekends, enjoy time with Santa at the Trim the Tree party and a Twas the Night Before Christmas party.

Wait, What?!??
It turns out Santa has a bit of a wild side. In addition to parachuting, helicopters and skiing, Santa rappels! If you are in the Finger Lakes region this holiday season, be sure to visit Ithaca and check out Santa rappelling down the side of a building with his elves (assisted by the Ithaca SWAT team!) Take photos with this risk-taking Santa and enjoy live music, games and more!
