Must-See Gingerbread House Displays

A popular holiday tradition for many families is to assemble and decorate a gingerbread house. Cookies and sweets stuck together with frosting... the design can be simple with a store bought kit. They can also be much more elaborate if you have an eye for design, a whole lot of patience, and you guessed it... lots of gingerbread!

We have found some of most spectacular gingerbread house displays around the country. Start a new tradition this year of taking a road trip to see one!

Select Walt Disney World Resorts will be decking the halls with gingerbread houses once again. This year's addition of a Frozen themed gingerbread display (found at Contemporary Resort) is sure to be a popular attraction among guests both young and old.

Just last year, Gingerbread Lane, found at the New York Hall of Science, was recognized as the world's largest gingerbread village by the 2014 Guinness World Records. It takes Chef Jon Lovitch an entire year to bake, design, plan and decorate all of the homemade gingerbread houses on display.  

The Four Seasons Hotel Austin is getting into the holiday spirit with a full gingerbread village. This year's theme is Candy Land! Fans of the family-favorite board game will enjoy looking for their favorite characters within the colorful and detailed display located in the hotel lobby.

A visit to Seattle during the holiday season isn't complete without a stop to see the Sheraton Seattle Hotel Gingerbread Village. This display features scenes from classic holiday tunes such as Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Oh Little Town of Bethlehem, and I'll be Home for Christmas. Each display is made entirely out of edible treats made by the Sheraton's culinary team with design by top local architecture firms. The result? A gingerbread display that is larger than life and not to be missed!

For the 13th year in a row, the Jacksonville Historical Society come tigether with local chefs, bakers, architects, engineers and even local families for a Gingerbread House Extravaganza! With themes ranging from fairy tales and animals to traditional gingerbread houses, the whole family is sure to find a favorite. For extra fun, child visitors are invited to participate in a scavenger hunt to find items throughout the display.

San Francisco visitors can marvel this holiday season at the Fairmont San Francisco's enormous Gingerbread House. It stands more than 22 feet high and 23 feet wide! The display includes more than a ton of royal icing and thousands of home-baked gingerbread bricks.

The Broadmoor in Colorado Spring is celebrating the holiday season with a 50 square foot, chateaux-themed gingerbread house. Children can play in the house and enjoy the festive decorations throughout the holidays.

To celebrate Dana Point, California’s first annual holiday lights extravaganza, IlluminOcean, the talented team of pastry chefs at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel will craft an oceanic-themed gingerbread “house” complete with dolphins, turtles, and whales surfing along a six foot royal icing wave.
