2015 So Cal Theme Park News

2015 is going to be a great year for Southern California theme parks. No matter what ages your children are, you will find something new to discover at one of the many parks throughout Southern California. From dancing and singing to inverting roller coasters, So Cal theme parks are the place to be in 2015!

Frozen Fun” has arrived at Disney California Adventure! All of your Frozen fans will love the new Frozen Sing-Along Celebration in Hollywood Land where Anna, Elsa and Kristoff make an appearance and kids sing along to their all-time favorite songs. Anna and Elsa have also moved from Disneyland to California Adventure for a new meet-and-greet location. Olaf fans can head over to Olaf’s Snow Fest to play in real snow and take a photo with Olaf. Spend the evening at Freeze the Night! A Family Dance Party - a fun dance party for your entire family. Think cool treats, fab photo ops, awesome music and great fun! 

LEGOLAND California in Carlsbad, California, is welcoming the LEGO Star Wars Death Star to Miniland in 2015! This 6-foot spanned addition will also allow guests to check out Star Wars movie scenes made of LEGO bricks and build their own LEGO Star Wars creations at near-by building stations. LEGOLAND California is welcoming LEGO Friends Heartlake City with the girls of LEGO Friends. This new area invites children to sing along with Andrea at her tour bus, stroll through LEGO horse stables, enjoy a building activity at one of the LEGO brick tables and go for a horseback ride on the carousel in Mia’s family ranch.

Knott’s Berry Farm is adding a 4-D experience to the Boardwalk with Voyage to the Iron Reef. This is a new interactive experience where guests can use their own freeze-ray gun to help save the Boardwalk from underwater creatures on attack!! The ride reacts to your actions so every time you ride, it’s a different experience.

In 2014, Six Flags Magic Mountain said goodbye to the iconic Colossus wooden roller coaster that had been a part of the park since 1978 and will welcome Twisted Colossus in its place in 2015. Known as a hybrid track, Twisted Colossus will combine a wooden structure with iron track. The ride will include an inversion where the car slows while upside down, a 360 degree track twist, a 128-foot drop at 80 degrees, and a “High Five” where two cars pass each other on an overbooked turn giving the illusion that riders can reach out and high five each other. This is not for the weak-hearted!

Universal Studios Hollywood has two new additions coming in 2015.  First, the Fast and the Furious ride is expanding to include another 50,000 square feet known as Fast and Furious Supercharged. Think more high-def 3D features with hydraulics for a full immersion experience. Universal Studios is also creating “Springfield” an immersive land surrounding “The Simpsons Ride” which will open in Spring 2015. “Springfield” is being designed to make guests feel as if they are being propelled through their television sets into the accurately depicted city, complete with signature eateries from Krusty Burger to Luigi’s Pizza and Phineas Q. Butterfat’s 5600 Flavors Ice Cream Parlor to iconic watering holes like Moe’s Tavern and Duff’s Brewery. And stay tuned because Harry Potter is coming to Universal Studios in 2016!
