As we stare down Valentine's Day, it is a perfect time to reflect on the state of your relationship. Nope, not the one with your kids, not the one with your parents, or your sister, or your neighbors ... the state of your relationship with your beloved.

As moms, we are always putting other people first. As I write this, I have just finished addressing Valentine's Day cards to all of the grandparents, have signed my daughter up to bring cookies (gluten-free no less) to her school Valentine's Day party and planned an all-chocolate issue of Macaroni EATS in honor of Valentine's Day.

I literally just added "buy Valentine's Day card for Eric" to my to do list!

But we all know that it is important that we take time to be a couple. To nurture the things that make our relationship special. To be reminded of what you loved about him in the first place.

It is not easy to leave the kids behind and take a few days to be together. But it is important! Below you will find many ideas that will hopefully inspire and motivate you to leave the kids behind, even for one single night, to be a couple again.

Happy trails.
