Some days, you just have to wake up and see something different. Some days, you have to step away from your day-to-day to better appreciate the world around you. To notice things you otherwise miss. To create singularly memorable days. This is especially critical for busy families. And we’ve found few better places to do that than at The Resort at Paws Up.
Have your kids clamored for a camping trip, but cooking over an open fire, sleeping on the ground and washing dishes in a lake have you running for the nearest Ritz Carlton? Look no further, Paws Up has mastered “glamping” – luxury camping. Nestled in a scenic valley in the mountains of Montana, this 37,000 acre working cattle ranch has found a way to be simultaneously rustic and luxurious.
Sure, they have tents. Tents that invite in a tremendous amount of fresh air and sunshine and the smell and sense of being in the woods. But. Paws Up tents have one or two bedrooms, king-sized beds, comfy sheets, a private master bathroom (some bathrooms are in-tent and some are in a nearby bathhouse), electricity, twice-daily maid service and your own camping butler.
If that’s still too rustic and woodsy, not to worry. Paws Up has 28 well-appointed, private vacation homes available – perfect for you, the kids and maybe even grandma and grandpa.
The lodging is merely the jumping off point for this incredible family destination. A stay at Paws Up enables you to experience all that is awesome about Montana. Explore on horseback. Go fly-fishing. Participate in a cattle drive. Visit a nearby ghost town. Dine chuck wagon-style under the stars. White water raft. Enjoy a massage in “Spa Town,” a luxury spa built from 11 Paws Up-style tents.
There is tons to do as a family, and much to do as an adult. And for those times, “Kids Corps of Discovery” camp provides full and half day programs where kids 5 to 12 can engage in organized, themed activities, age-appropriate crafts and daily feedings of the baby animals at the Cow Pokes’ Corral. This is no ordinary resort camp: here kids will participate in daily themed activities, they will explore on Lewis and Clark day, learn lasso and rope tying techniques during Ranch day and pan for real gold at a real ghost town on gold rush day.
Paws Up offers several different family packages. Our favorite? Their Familymoon Package, designed to give families a tremendous adventure coupled with a tremendous opportunity to bond. This all-inclusive package includes 5 nights, all meals, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages, two half days of "Kids Corp of Discovery" for each child, a cattle drive adventure and chuck wagon dinner for the entire family and, for mom and dad … a little romance aboard a hot air balloon and a couples massage. Rates vary by date and accommodations.
Perhaps it’s because Paws Us is family owned. Perhaps it’s all that open space and clean Montana air. Maybe it’s a generation of caring for horses. Or maybe it just stems from a commitment to creating a destination where families can enjoy enough open spaces and enough different activities to enable them to really come together. Whatever the source of the magic, The Resort at Paws up has created something very, very special.
We are thrilled that Paws Up will be hosting Macaroni Kid's Publisher Mom of the Year this fall, and look forward to her personal report!
