Extended Stay Perfect for Affordable Summer Travel

Sponsored Review

By Lisa Barry-Gofberg June 9, 2015

When I was studying for my doctorate, my university was a short plane ride away, which meant a lot of travel for me. Each time I went to school, I'd stay for just over a week. That meant many hotel rooms, meals on the go and working on assignments from my hotel room. Iin the town I went to school, there were very few hotel options so I ended up in a perfectly fine, but standard hotel room - bed, bathroom, maybe a small desk and a microwave if I was lucky.

What I really needed was a place like Extended Stay America - an affordable option providing guests with all the comforts of home whether staying one night or multiple nights. For a family looking to stay on budget, pack your bags and head to an Extended Stay America.

Extended Stay America is a budget-friendly travel option with rates starting at under $100/night meaning that it is a perfect fit for Macaroni Kid Family Travel’s goal of keeping the cost of your next trip under $1500. And you won’t feel cramped as a family sharing a room here. Each spacious room offers the standard hotel amenities plus a table that could fit up to four people, two chairs (great for dining or doing some work in your room if needed), ample space for clothing and even a full kitchen.

The kitchen offers a full-size refrigerator/freezer, two-burner stovetop, microwave, cookware, dishware, sink, toaster, coffee maker and more. Having a fully equipped in-room kitchen can keep you on budget as you travel as a family. Extended Stay America even has a website -awayfromhomecooking.com - that offers great recipes to make during your stay with the kitchen tools provided! Extended Stay America has teamed up with celebrity chef Sunny Anderson to make sure their recipes cover all categories: breakfast, lunch, dinner, vegetarian - you name it. So you can enjoy home-cooked meals while on the road, making traveling healthier and budget-friendly. We were able to make Sunny’s chocolate-banana pancakes during our stay. We gobbled them up so fast I forgot to take a picture, but trust me, they were delicious!

Recently, my family and I were invited to visit the Extended Stay America Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. This location is just blocks away from Disneyland and California Adventure, making it a perfect option for families. At this location, all rooms offer the amenities mentioned above plus the property provides complimentary grab-and-go style breakfast, a pool and access to transportation to the nearby amusement parks. Everything about our stay was easy - the staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was downstairs, there was a shopping center across the street with many dining options, and it was only minutes to Disneyland. Happy kids = happy parents!

Extended Stay America makes family travel affordable. Room rates are more than reasonable and you can save money by utilizing the in-room kitchen, because let’s face it - feeding your family gets expensive! Plus, Extended Stay America isn’t only trying to help you save on your hotel, they are trying to help you save in everything you do.

Extended Stay America offers the Extended Perks Reward Program, a program that does away with the traditional “hotel reward program” model and provides savings as soon as you sign up. You can get 15% off your next stay after joining, weekly hotel offers, plus discounts on hundreds of brands, both at home and when you travel. Everyday Perks includes discounts for entertainment, restaurants, rental cars, retail, amusement parks and more, giving you deals for over 150,000 national and local businesses.
