The recently-opened Sebastian in Vail, Colorado is nothing short of incredible. This 100-room boutique hotel gets it right for families, couples, girlfriends … okay, for anyone visiting Vail. In fact, within just a few months of their opening last fall, they got it right for the First Family.
The Sebastian manages to be elegant while still being comfortable. The décor is contemporary with a nod to the mountains. Incredible original artwork can be found around every corner, from the work of Manuel Felguerez that defines the “library” to the flower vases created by a team of local 4th graders that proudly adorn the Market café.
“Skiing is the ultimate family sport,” explains Annie Lynch, the Sebastian’s Director of Sales and Marketing. “There is something about sharing a ski vacation that really brings families together, and we aim to encourage that.” How? By making a ski vacation as simple as possible.
Will you be renting equipment? Simply give the “adventure concierge” your info and everything you need will be brought to the hotel to be fitted. Then all of your equipment will be whisked away to “Base Camp” the Sebastian’s exclusive oasis right at the base of the Vista Bahn. In the morning, stroll to the lifts in your comfy after-ski boots. There, you will find your gear waiting … along with coffee, hot chocolate, snacks and an accommodating team who will help you and your pack get out the door and onto the slopes.
The Sebastian’s location in the center of Vail Village aids in the ease. Kids want pizza for dinner? It’s across the street. Ready for an after-ski stroll through town? Vail’s main pedestrian shopping area is right there. Wanna’ run to Starbucks? It’s down the street. Bowling? Movies? Practically next door. Want to visit the other side of town? Jump on the frequent Vail bus service ‘cause -- you guessed it -- the stop is just outside. Need a little après ski pampering? Bloom Spa is in the lobby.
But the real magic here is in the level of service and accommodation. The management company, relatively new to the hospitality game, has clearly managed to borrow from the very best in the business and delivers service that is attentive and professional, while at the same time warm and welcoming. It is truly the best of Vail. Macaroni Kid cannot recommend the Sebastian highly enough. We loved it here.
Keep your eyes open for the development of additional family-friendly programs, including a possible movie night, s’mores and more.
