Grand Cayman for Families, The Westin Casuarina

Family Travel the Starwood Way!

By Eric Cohen January 10, 2012

There’s traveling with kids, and there’s traveling for kids.  Disney World, Nickelodeon Cruises and the like -- that's traveling for kids.  When you are traveling with kids to someplace that is not strictkly kid-focused you need to choose wisely.

One of the best choices we’ve seen is the Westin Casuarina Resort & Spa in the heart of Grand Cayman and fronting the famous Seven Mile Beach.  It’s on Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List, and has been recognized for excellence.  And Grand Cayman has been named Travelers' Choice 2011 #1 destination in the Caribbean and Mexico AND #1 Caribbean Beach by US News Travel.

The resort balances adult and family needs thanks to the Westin Kids club for children 4-12 years of age which offers a variety of educational, interactive and fun activities.  There’s a choice of morning, afternoon or all-day sessions, and even a night session for a “Parents Night Off.”  Kids Club Adventures include a trip to Turtle Farm - Cayman's most visited attraction. The children get to see Cayman Green Parrots, Iguanas and Shark tanks. Children also get the opportunity to hold the wonderful green sea turtles.  The Nautilus - Kids get to experience an undersea tour in the most luxurious semi-submarine in the world. This vessel glides gracefully over the shipwrecks of the Balboa and the Cali as well as over Cheeseburger Reef. The captain of the boat actually dives in and feeds the fish right before your eyes!  Dolphin Discovery - Children will have the opportunity to hug, kiss, and have their picture taken with a dolphin.  Build-A-Bear Excursion - Children will get to create their own "Cayman Critter" to take home. Stuff the, name them and dress them. Once they get home, kids can accessorize them at any Build-A-Bear store.

While the kids learn about turtles, you can visit the rejuvenating Hibiscus Spa, hang at the over-sized outdoor pool which features a swim-up bar, or rent a luxurious private cabana on the beach. Be sure to stop by the Red Sail Sports stand to experience a variety of water activities – from wave runner adventures to snorkeling.

Recent vacationers reviews on TripAdvisor.com included  phrases like “breathtaking scenery”, “Fantastic beach, great people, and super safe for kids”, and “wonderful family hotel”.  The Westin Casuarina Resort and Spa is a Starwood property and Starwood is a sponsor of Macaroni Kid.
