Located on Wailea Beach in southwest Maui, Grand Wailea is considered one of the finest resorts on the island. Set on 40 acres, this resort is spacious and full of fun! Grand Wailea was designed so that the majority of its 780 rooms and suites have an ocean view. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.
One of best features of Grand Wailea is the Wailea Canyon Activity Pool. No matter your age, this pool has everything you could want. There are waterslides of every size, waterfalls, water rapids, caves to explore and for parents who need a little break -- the swim-up bar. But one of the most unique features you will find is the world’s first water elevator, which transports you from the lower level of the pool to the upper level so that you can ride those water slides again. We literally spent ALL day at the pool and had to drag the kids to dinner.
In addition to the Activity Pool, there is also the quieter, adult-only Hibiscus Pool and the SCUBA Pool where complimentary introductory SCUBA lessons are offered twice daily. If you get hooked, you can plan for an ocean dive right off Grand Wailea’s beach.
In addition to SCUBA, there are many ocean activities available through Grand Wailea-- snorkeling, sailing, kayaking and more. Or, just relax and enjoy the beach. It is gorgeous and calm enough for kids of all ages.
Grand Wailea offers a great variety of shops and restaurants with dining choices from fine dining to grab-n-go. If you are looking to experience a true Hawaiian luau, make your reservations for the Grand Lu’au at Honua’ula, located right on the property.
If your children enjoy spending time at kids’ clubs, be sure to check out Camp Grande. At 20,000 square feet, Camp Grande was clearly not an afterthought. Kids ages 5-12 are welcome in the main area and teens have their own space with access to pool tables, Wii, XBOX, and ping pong. Despite the expansive facility, Camp Grande doesn't keep the kids inside. Children hit the pool to swim or head out on different adventures. The day we were there, Grand Wailea hosted a turtle release of five turtles from the nearby Maui Ocean Center. The camp counselors escorted the children down to the beach so they could watch the release. Talk about a once in a lifetime experience!
Finally, a couple of unique features of Grand Wailea. It is home to the largest spa in Hawaii and offers amazing services for all ages. In fact, they were the first resort to offer a teen program for their guests. Also, local art was integral in the design of the resort. As you walk the grounds, you will discover beautiful works from both local and international artists. Want to explore you own artistic talents? Grand Wailea offers classes in photography, watercolor painting, landscape painting, and sand sculpting.
There are so many things to do at Grand Wailea. I guarantee once your trip is over, you will be planning your return. Aloha!
