Best Easter Egg Hunts around the USA

By Anna Hall March 8, 2016
Any child will tell you that the best part of Easter is the Easter egg hunts. While traditional events have kids hunting colorful plastic eggs that have been scattered around a field of green grass, many creative variations of the hunt are popping up around the country. We’ve rounded up some of the best Easter egg hunts we could find around the USA, based on either the size of the event, a picturesque location or a unique twist. Here are our top seven picks:

1. Biltmore Estate Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Asheville, NC
One of the largest in the southeast, Biltmore’s Easter egg hunt takes place annually on Easter Sunday on the front lawn of The Biltmore House, George Washington Vanderbilt II’s  French Renaissance chateau  and “America’s largest home” located within an 8,000-acre grand estate in Asheville, NC. Spring’s colorful blooms blanketing the estate coupled with the magnificent mansion and a background of the Blue Ridge Mountains create a gorgeous setting for the annual Easter event that includes sweet treats, magic shows, children’s music and stories, activities, and photos with the Easter Rabbit. Three hunts take place throughout the day for children 2–9 years old.

2. Underwater Easter Egg Hunt, Islamorada, FL
In what has become a Florida Keys Easter tradition, Captain Slate’s Scuba Adventures hosts an Underwater Easter Egg Hunt each year on Easter Sunday. Captain Spencer Slate, clad in a giant bunny suit and dive gear, hides brightly colored hard-boiled Easter Eggs in a shallow reef of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary off Key Largo. Divers and snorkelers then get a chance to participate in the underwater game of hide and seek to win prizes.
