On Our Radar: Beech Mountain

By Mary Shoemaker October 11, 2016
Looking for an easy ski getaway east of the Rockies? Beech Mountain recently crossed our radar. Located in Western North Carolina, Beech Mountain is a fun little town at the top of a mountain with its own ski resort and a not-so-shabby elevation of 5,506 feet.

What makes it so appealing to families? For starters, it has a fabulous learn-to-ski program (and even made the finals in this year's Travel Gold Daisy Awards for Best Children's Ski School!) along with 15 trails and 7 lifts.

There’s also an entire village at the base of the slopes to keep your family entertained, including an ice skating rink and a snowtubing park. The town has a free youth sledding hill, plenty of lodging options and kid-friendly dining locations.

Oh, and did we mention that the resort offers apparel rentals? No more lugging bulky coats and pants along on your vacation. Just rent it, use it and leave it behind. Yes, please!
