Girlfriends' Getaway in Calistoga

By Lisa Gofberg May 9, 2017

Calistoga is well known for being a hot spot (pardon the pun) for mud baths and hot springs. Millions of years ago, Mt. Konocti erupted and covered this part of northern California with volcanic ash creating the perfect ingredient for the perfect mud bath. It also created hot springs in the area. And now, millions of years later, it’s time for you to call a couple of your besties and head to Calistoga to enjoy them!

What’s so great about mud baths and hot springs? Well, for starters, mud baths are relaxing. It’s like being wrapped up in a warm blanket. Plus, it’s been known to help with achy joints and do great things for your skin. What mom couldn’t use a little skin brightening?

Experience the full Calistoga experience at Golden Haven Hot Springs Spa and Resort. First, you will enjoy a mud bath that includes mineral water, clay and peat. The mud bath is about 100 degrees and when you get in, you will float just below the surface, giving you a feeling similar to weightlessness.

After your mud bath, enjoy a mineral water shower followed by an aromatherapy wrap. And get this - there’s no one calling “Mom, I’m hungry!” I know it is hard to imagine, but grab your girlfriends for this experience. They deserve it, too!

Plus, since you are in the heart of Napa Valley, there are countless wineries to explore, bikes to rent for a ride through the local trails and hiking at the nearby Oat Hill Mine Trail.
