When I travel with my kids, I'm always telling them to be serious as we approach the TSA officer. Answer politely. Don't make jokes. Don't stare at your phone. Look them in the eye and smile slightly so that they know I'm not kidnapping you.
TSA officers are serious people. Charged with protecting our safety when we travel, it is obvious that they take their jobs very seriously. I've never seen one joke, and other than a terse "have a good trip" as they hand back my ID, I've barely seen any of them smile.
So imagine our surprise when we discovered the official TSA Instagram account. Puppies, flamingos, and flying pies. And that's just this week.
There is no doubt that these guys take their jobs -- and our security -- seriously. But they've found a channel to deliver their message with humor.
