5 Blissful Babymoon Destinations... Right Here in the States!

By Melissa Alcorn, StrollerTraffic.com July 10, 2018

Before baby makes three (or four or five… you get the idea) many couples are opting to get away and focus on just the two of them. Makes sense to us. Soon the days will be long, and the nights even longer (and likely sleepless). A pre-baby trip is a way for expectant parents to reconnect and unwind before the whirlwind of a newborn begins.

It’s no surprise that the most popular time to take a babymoon is during the second trimester -- morning sickness has (hopefully) subsided, and the mama-to-be is still sporting a relatively comfortable-sized bump. But every mama and every pregnancy is different, so it’s a good idea to check with an OB/GYN before planning a road trip or plane ride while expecting.

While a trip overseas may sound appealing to some, the idea of being two flights and a layover away from their doctor isn’t for everyone. We found five great destinations right here in the U.S. that offer special treatment for expectant couples. On the agenda: pampering and a whole lot of time to relax.

The Lavender Inn & Spa in Ojai, CA

Lavender is known as being relaxing, and the parents-to-be will find just that at this historic Bed & Breakfast located 30 miles from Santa Barbara. Book the Babymoon package and receive an “Ojai Baby” onesie and a 10% discount for the nearby boutique baby store of the same name. Pre-natal massages and mommy facial are also available at the on-site spa (don’t forget to book a specialty massage for dad-to-be too!). The Lavender Inn & Spa also offers private appointments with infant consultants to answer all your birth and baby questions. Breakfast on the veranda, TLC for the couple, and a baby pro to answer questions … what more could expectant parents want?

The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, AZ

Consider the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa the ultimate desert oasis: a spa for her, golf for him, award-winning dining, shopping, and Scottish Bagpipes played each evening at sunset to pay tribute to the state’s Scottish immigrants. The “Bundle of Joy” Babymoon package includes treats (in-room chocolate-covered strawberries and cider), massages (a 50-minute couples massage), and more, including 24-hour “Cravings” Chef Service and two pints of Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream of mama’s choice. It’s like an expectant mama designed the package herself and we’re here for it.

Sundara Inn & Spa in Wisconsin Dells, WI

How does one find out what a mother-to-be wants? By asking her! That’s exactly what Sundara Inn & Spa did. The result is a list of incredible tried and true spa treatments designed to help the mother-to-be relax and feel great during each trimester of her pregnancy. From facials to massages to hand and foot treatments, every inch of mama and her bump will leave happy. Dad-to-be has not been forgotten either. A Just For Him list is also available to help dad get ready to face fatherhood head-on. Outside the spa, the suites and villas offer featherbeds, peaceful views, and plenty of time to reconnect before the baby arrives.

The Kenwood Inn in St Augustine, FL

The Kenwood Inn is St. Augustine’s oldest bed & breakfast. Guests are greeted by historic charm, elegant décor, and luxury amenities. The Babymoon package gives soon-to-be parents a chance to celebrate each other before the arrival of baby. Included in the package is the option of a one-hour prenatal massage for mom or two half-hour, in-room massages for the couple. Date night kicks off with chocolate-covered strawberries and a sparkling beverage, followed by a horse-drawn carriage ride in historic St. Augustine that will be the highlight of the stay. Wake up to breakfast in bed at the historic inn before taking a dip in the saltwater swimming pool or recharging on the sun deck.

The Inn at Ormsby Hill in Manchester, VT

Love is in the air at Ormsby Hill. The bed and breakfast country inn’s Babymoon Package makes mama-to-be feel extra special with a one-hour, in-room prenatal massage, Vermont-made chocolates, sparkling cider, and a gift basket with an assortment of Burt’s Bees Mama Bee products, plus a teddy bear for baby. Up the ante on the romance by adding a massage for the fella, flowers delivered to your room, and a cheese platter to nibble on (because pregnancy).

Happy babymoon!
