Home Away from Home in Orlando, Florida

Hyatt House across from Universal Orlando Resort

“We can see Hogwarts!” my kids exclaimed as they excitedly looked out the picture window of our room at Hyatt House across from Universal Orlando Resort.

Orlando is a must-do travel destination for many families and there are many choices for lodging. Choosing where to stay just may have become easier. Hyatt House across from Universal Orlando Resort, a Universal Partner Hotel just a mile from Universal Orlando Resort theme parks and CityWalk, is the perfect home away from home for families. The combination of luxury and comfort-- everything around me was beautiful, but I didn’t feel stressed out that my three boys would break something-- and the friendly & helpful staff made our stay enjoyable from the moment we entered the lobby to our final check-out.

The one bedroom kitchen suite with an attached king den was more than enough room for my family of five to spread out and felt more like a luxury apartment than a hotel room. We ate dinner in the fully stocked kitchen (I’m talking a full size stove and refrigerator, pots & pans, silverware-- the works!) and hung out in the separate living room. The kids enjoyed their own sleeping area with two queen beds and at the end of the evening we were able to escape to our own king bedroom hideaway. We really appreciated the extra den area when an afternoon rainstorm sent the boys and I inside from swimming while my husband was still working remotely from the hotel room. We were able to come back to the room, change out of our bathing suits and watch a little tv while he continued to work uninterrupted at the desk in the den. I don’t think he he even knew we had come back up to the room!

One of my favorite parts of the room was the family organizer area. What looks like a simple shelf and some hooks is was a much appreciated designated space for hanging pool towels, storing shoes & bags, and putting all of those things that need to be easy to grab on your way out the door-- just like home. The room has all the extras that you need, but if you forgot something or just decide that you’d like to enjoy a family game night, they have a ‘Borrows Menu.’ You can borrow anything from outlet covers for childproofing your room to a curling iron to a deck of playing cards. Something else really neat: Hyatt House across from Universal Orlando Resort boasts the only family suite in the area with bunk beds and a separate sleeping area for parents. The hotel also offers free, scheduled transportation to Universal Orlando Resort as well as SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica so you can enjoy the theme parks or just go and spend an evening exploring CityWalk.

If you’re not hitting the parks, the pool is the place to be. The fountains are actually IN the pool, so little ones can play in the fountains while the adults and bigger kids swim. While the kids splashed in the pool, I snuck in a few moments of mama time and enjoyed the poolside music, a variety of relaxing tunes spanning the decades. Had a long day walking through the parks? Spend the evening unwinding in the cozy firepit area next to the pool.

Bacon & french toast & Nutella, oh my! The kids, and parents, loved the ‘Morning Spread’ hot breakfast buffet, which is included with your stay at Hyatt House. I think the kids most enjoyed choosing and pouring out their own cereal from the clear dispensers. I loved the eggs and bacon… and not having to make or figure out where to go for breakfast! Later in the day, we gobbled up delicious boneless wings and fried cheese curds from the H Bar Sip + Snack menu… mmmmmmmm.

The whole family was more than pleased with our stay at Hyatt House across from Universal Orlando Resort, and hope to return for our family next vacation in Orlando.
