Resorts Still Working to Build Family Relationships, Even From Afar

Creative and fun ways to help families stay connected, even while staying at home

By Kara Murphy April 1, 2020

Great hotels and resorts don't just give you a place to sleep. They encourage family bonding while finding ways to entertain and make lasting memories.

So we shouldn't have been surprised to see some of our favorite travel partners coming up with creative and fun ways to help families stay connected, even while staying at home:

Club Med

Club Med has launched Club Med at Home, with activities to inspire and engage multigenerational households. Visitors will find Club Med’s website and social channels filled with content and virtual activities including:

  • Coloring pages for kids (and kids at heart!)
  • Fan favorite Club Med recipes like the legendary White Chocolate Bread
  • An Instagram live workout session, as well as access to previously-filmed workout videos like a wake-up morning yoga routine from Club Med Cefalù in Sicily
  • A playlist of interactive 360-degree videos to virtually transport you to over 30 Club Med resorts around the globe
  • “Crazy Signs” playlist, curated so visitors can join in on the fun and show off their best dance moves
  • Activity suggestions designed to engage kids and parents, such as taking vacation pictures in your house or mixing your own eco-friendly modeling clay and designing your own sculpture

Great Wolf Lodge

Great Wolf Lodge just launched a new digital blog serving as a guide for creating at-home fun. You'll find ideas for backyard fun, kitchen science experiments, crafts, and simple recipes -- all designed to be activities the whole family can take part in. A few current posts include:

  • Backyard Scavenger Hunt
  • Easy Paper Crafts Your Kids Can Do When They’re Bored
  • Fun Grilled Cheese Shooters to Make At Home: Finger Foods for Kids
  • Kitchen Science: 3 Mini Experiments to Try At Home

Massanutten Resort

This premier, all-season adventure resort is bringing the fresh mountain air of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley to the whole family with positive virtual experiences. Massanutten Resort is releasing special videos led by its talented staff every weekday afternoon. Each segment guides viewers through different activities to enjoy their “Massanutten Moment.” Recent videos include:

  • Breathing techniques and core exercises
  • How to make: Flower suncatcher mandalas
  • How to make: Pizza at home
  • Yoga poses to reduce stress

While it's certainly not the same as traveling, we appreciate how these resorts are still working to keep families connected -- even when we're apart.
